Multiple RP, how many DB?

Hello,

When implementing multiple Replication Partners, can I use only one SQL DB?

I understood that when the RP is working with Failover and/or load balancing, if the "main server" goes down for some reason, the "traffic" redirects automatically to the next on the priority list, and the DB used would be the same to all of the RP's installed, since it's not embedded.

Did i understand it right? Could someone explain it a bit more?
