We have over 500 Windows 7 laptops/desktops (64 bit) with SEP 12.1.1101.401. When looking for files to clean up I see duplicate file names I see the virscan7.dat, located in different folders on the c: drive. I have many other virscanX.dat's (e.g. virscan9.dat, virscan5.dat, etc.) that have duplicates as well.
Can I delete them manually, or does Symantec have a system cleanup utility?

I am using the Symantec Endpoing Protection manager 11.0.2000 , and i want to move the server to another server with diffent IP Diffrent name , i get the one of the artical of the symantec that show how to add the aditional site & that move on to new site & delete the old one after moving all policy & database,
i am doing all stem by step, after install the same version EPPM opn the another mactine done, that itry to add the aditional site with the emabded database , but when it goes to syncronize the database , but fail with the error 'Unable to connect the specified server' , i can reach to that old server , both are in same LAN

it blocks it for 10 mins at a time the only way round this i have found is to disable network threat protection in the symantec settings but
this is becoming a real pain please help
oh and please help in easy steps im not very good on my laptop

My problem is ,when we disable Download Insight in policy , there is warning in the SEP client, and a red circle on shortcut icon in system tray. Right click on the SEP shortcut, there is menu “Enable Symantec Endpoint”.
The version we are runing is 12.1 with Basic Protection for server.

I have a couple of issues with the Symantec Endpoint, I have exported a Install package from the Symantec Endpoint Manager... And i added a Client Install Feauture Set, I unticked the Network Threat Protection See:
And i deployed the msi with the Group Policy to a bunch of Computers, but it seems as that the Nework Threat Protection installed anyway... See below... And when i get to the control panel (Action Center) i see that Symantec is running as the firewall.. but i want to use the Windows Firewall and not the symantec? What am i doing wrong?

I've set autopurge for disconnected VDI at 2 days but it does not work...
I see clients last time online 10 days ago (in the properties section I see them as VMware).
If I set the filter in order NOT to see offline non-persistent VDI, I still see them... it's like SEP does not recognize them as non persistent VDI.
I've already performed all the steps described in best practices (vietool, clientprep and so on).
Hi my C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\CurrentVersion\Data\Definitions\VirusDefs is very large but if I try and remove them I just get an error saying I dont have permission even though I am logged in as the domain admin.
How can I reduce this folder size please?

I have a problem with my SEP 12.1.
here the story, I have a IBM Server using Windows 2003 Enterprise OS, i'm use this server as a web server for php aplication and SQL. and accesed by user using IP Public.
i install the SEP 12.1 and running well......but today as a usssual i 've checked the server and find my SEP has broke.
SEP showing only Anti Virus and spyware protection only.....
fyi, two days ago...i see in symantec warningt my server get attack from other ip publik.
i try to reinstall SEP but the windows displaying : another newest SEP installed in my server.......but i'm using the same source
please help me........there is virus attack my server or only a SEP error ?
can i fix the SEP ?

Running Endpoint Protection 12.1.2015.2015 on Windows 7, and have had the usual tweaks that others have reported that needed to be addressed such as the "traffic from application svchost.exe" fix with IPv6, and that has since gone away for me as well with using the recommendation of turning IPv6 off since it's not being used. However, I've recently run into a snag with this machine since it runs VMware Workstation on it as well to run one of my test asterisk voip virtual machines. When I place calls out from my physical Cisco 7965 IP Phone, on every other call (usually happens with back to back calls) I get:

The 64.x.x based IP is that of my SIP trunk provider, which is not a threat.

Just thought you guys should know that upon upgrading, THIS option (I determined this after a lot of trial and error, since I never had this issue with any of the previous SEP editions), which can be found in the Network Threat Protection settings, will slow down certain websites (Facebook, Gmail, AOL Mail). It also does not allow Speed Tests to calculate your UPLOAD speed (Download works fine). Very strange. And yes, it does it with multiple web browsers. I am using Windows 7 x64.
I confirmed it multiple times by toggling it on and off, re-installing old versions and keeping the option enabled, and manually turning every option under Network Threat Protection on/off until I figured out which particular option was causing my slowdown ever since upgrading.
Thought you guys might want to look into this, since using that option never gave me a performance issue in the past.

We are going to migrate 11.x to 12.x. on an enviorenment here are some quaries:
1.SEPM installed n Xen server, what sould be the system configuration of SEPM server for managing 2500 SEP clients ?
2.SCCM(System center configurution manager) is running on the environment. What is the file extention( patch/exe or others) of client upgrading/migrating command from SEPM to clients. Will it support/work throgh SCCM?
3. Replication of SEPM activated there. What is the types of SEPM replication (active-active or active-passive or else)?
4. Is it possible to transfer SEPM from XEN server to vmware or converting XEN server to VMware ?

I have 5 SEPM installed in my netwotk which manages the client based on Location and several Sub Groups under respective SEPM. Each Group is inherting the App and Dev Policy from its Parent Grroup.I would like to configure GUP in certain Groups of all SEPM based on Location. Request you to kindly help me in configuring the same. Lets consider a case where we have 5 sub groups inherting policies from a Parent Group. I would like to configure GUP to only 2 Groups of it.Is it Possible to do so or else we remove the inheritance and configure an Liveupdate POlicy.

I have a client with a 2000 Server that doesn't have SEPM. They have unmanaged clients. I purchased 12.1 license but would like to use SEPM. Is there anyway I can do this to manage 12.1 clients?
